Miao people celebrate Tiaoxiang Festival

The 5^th Miao Tiaoxiang Festival of Guzhang County was held in Yantouzhai Village, Yantouzhai Town on November 26, aiming to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of villagers and promote rural revitalization through the cultural industry.

Miao people sang and danced at the square of the village to celebrate this festival. Tiaoxiang Festival is a traditional Miao folk festival, at which local Miao people pray for good weather, national peace and prosperity, a bumper grain harvest and safe seasons. The people from the whole county and surrounding areas were dressed in Miao costumes, singing and dancing, and performing colorful programs. Multiple folk performances like folk songs, Miao songs and harvest dance were presented. All programs were created and performed by villagers.

In recent years, the government of Guzhang County has focused on high-quality ecological and all-for-one tourism development. It has adhered to the development strategy of “building an ecological civilization county, enriching people with characteristic industries and creating an excellent development environment”. It has also empowered the protection and utilization of rural cultural and natural resources with the cultural industry, and promoted the integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, so as to make positive contributions to rural revitalization as well as agricultural and rural modernization.
